AT THE MIDWAY @ THE WASHINGTON STATE FAIR IN PUYALLUP

At The Midway is a project of Marcellus Neel, he is the special project art director of Eddie Bauer, together with photographers Caleb & Ariana Babcock and stylist Brynn Renné.

At The Midway captures the uniquely American coming-of-age experience of a visit to a State Fair: the setting sun over the rides, the lights, the games, the food, the animals--and how young relationships and romance and flirtation play out over that setting. The photographers are this cool husband and wife team that are somewhat just starting out but have a ton of talent, and the stylist is really talented, too. They shot it at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Washington--about a half hour south of Seattle. Basically they just found this good looking group of friends, said they'd take them to the fair, pay their way and tell them what to wear if they'd let them follow them for snaps.

LET"S GET JAGGY WITH IT.....

I was invited in the Antwerp showroom of D-Lux, to have a sneak peek at the Jaggy Spring/Summer 2014 collection. As you may expect from Jaggy the collection was packed with colorful 5 pockets, but also jeans in some very nice washings. And what do you think about that antique washed polo with Hawaii print painted on it?

AMERICANA VERSUS ITALIAN STYLE

Via these pictures it's easy to understand the difference between American style and Italian style. Italians wear and combine classic menswear in a new way. Americans are using classics from workwear, army and prep schools to update their wardrobe.

I love the first picture with Mr. Prep, Dad's Army and the blue collar man. (pics via Guerreisms)

GANT RUGGER - JE SUIS UN PARISIEN

Few months after New York, Los Angeles and London, GANT Rugger opened on August 26 its first Parisian boutique at 116 Rue Vieille du Temple. ALEXANDER OLCH - LOOKBOOK FW '13

Man I love wool ties, and this Alexander Olch collection is mouth watering!

Alexander Olch may be one of the premier names in luxury neckwear, but the designer’s story is far from conventional. Olch didn’t study fashion or apprentice in his craft. He actually got his start in the men’s accessories game after completing a thesis film at Harvard. Rather than a T-shirt or a baseball hat, Olch decided to make a necktie as a gift for his crew. It took him about a year and half to get the sample back — long enough to lose track of the crew — but he decided to show it to some old friends at dinner one evening in the early 2000s. They wanted to buy it, and a business was born. Over the course of the following years, Olch expanded his offerings to a full line of neckties, bow ties, and accessories: all made in New York, and all cut from the finest materials. A decade after its founding, Olch’s signature combination of Old World craftsmanship and distinctly modern style is still going strong. (pics via flickr)

A WARM SMILE - CONVERSE X HUDSON BAY CO.

Jack Purcell's are also know as the sneaker with a smile. This time it's a warm smile, Converse teams
up with Hudson Bay the Canadian famous blanket producer.

The Jack Purcell silhouette is named after another Canadian, John Edward ‘Jack’ Purcell. Purcell was a world famous badminton player in the 1920s and 1930s who designed the canvas and rubber shoes to provide extra support on the court. In the 1970s Converse purchased the rights to the design and have been producing and selling it ever since – the shoe has become instantly identifiable by the signature ‘smiley’ across the toe.

Hudson’s Bay Company was founded way back in 1670. It is North America’s longest continually operated company and one of the oldest in the world. The Hudson’s Bay Company point blanket has been a familiar staple in Canada and across the globe for over 200 years. Mirroring the manufacturing of the blanket, the wool used on the shoe is dyed before it is spun, then air and sun dried to brighten the colours.

The result is a great casual shoe with a vintage feel and injection of colour due to the green, red, yellow and navy stripes. The shoe comes complete with threaded stitching and antique brass eyelets, and includes the Jack Purcell and Hudson’s Bay logos on the foot bed.
